SYTYCD - Wood, Metal & Plastics 2016

SYTYCD - Wood, Metal & Plastics 2016

SYTYCD 2016 kicked off in Victoria this year with the Week of Design in March.  Schools throughout Victoria participated in 2 challenges - design a companion robot and a new high-tech helmet for the emergency services inspired by Ned Kelly!!  After a LOT of deliberation, 10 finalists were chosen -

Thanks to the generous support of Swinburne University, ALL finalists were given the opportunity to take part in a Discover Design Program at their Advanced Manufacturing & Design Centre - click HERE for a film about this great initiative.

These 10 talented young designers then competed in the final - an intense, live, 2-day design-off at DATTA Vic's STEAMpunk Conference.  Click HERE for photos of the event.

Congratulations to Gaelen Petit and Thomas Hewitt from Northcote High School - the winners of SYTYCD 2016!
