DATTA Vic members - this free, online teach meet will explore ways to celebrate First Nations knowledge within the Design & Technologies curriculum. 

Learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Culture is a Cross-Curriculum Priority within the Victorian curriculum, but can be challenging to address it appropriately within a practical subject.

Martin Blake from Camberwell High School will take participants through a beautiful Year 9 unit of work (pictured above) that reflects and celebrates the lands of the Wurundjeri people. He will explore:

• What is indigenous education 
• Who to speak to before you start planning 
• Importance of making it local to the local mob
• Why is it tricky with technology based subjects
• Sharing his D&T classroom project
• Activity on brainstorming ideas 
• Creating actions for teachers 

The session will include a discussion about approaches to inclusive Design & Technologies education, so if you've delivered a classroom project that engages your students in ATSI culture, please come ready to share!
