Join Sustainability Victoria's Brijesh Parmer, as he gives an in-depth explanation about the concept of a Circular Economy within the fashion industry, one of the six sustainability frameworks/strategies in the Product Design and Technologies study design.
Brij has over 10 years of experience in the manufacturing sector as an industrial designer. He has been responsible for designing and manufacturing various products and systems. Brij also has been an educator, teaching subjects like science, technology, and the arts at schools and universities in Australia and abroad. He has presented research on biodiversity, water security, and climate adaptation at the United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP) events as part of an alliance.
Brij has played an active role at Sustainability Victoria, contributing to the development and implementation of circular economy programs and initiatives that aim to enhance resource efficiency and encourage sustainable development among businesses, community groups, and other agencies.
This session will cover issues about behaviours that require changing within the industry, social issues that exist currently and impacts on the environment, economy and people who are involved in the fashion industry, as well as looking at solutions that currently exist.
This session is relevant to all Design and Technologies teachers and will help you get your head around what a circular economy is and how it is applied to product design.
*This session is free and open to all DATTA Vic Members, but registrations are essential. Please share this with your colleagues within your own school networks*
