Do you want to improve your knowledge of contemporary design in Australia? Are you looking for engaging examples of design thinking, creative problem solving and innovation to share with your students?

Join us at the NGV for a very special teacher workshop especially for DATTA Vic members.  You'll get to see not one, but TWO exhibitions focusing on design, attend two talks by NGV curatorial staff, and then join DATTA Vic after for a drink and a chat about all things creative!

Here's what you can expect on the day;

MAKING GOOD: REDESIGNING THE EVERY DAY

Making Good: Redesigning the Everyday explores how designers are reshaping the products and systems that impact our daily lives – transforming them into solutions that are better for people and the planet. From biodegradable packaging to clothing that adapts as you grow, concrete made from coffee grounds, and air-purifying paints, the exhibition brings together innovations that reduce waste, extend product lifespans, and recalibrate the systems and sectors we interact with every day – from health to fashion and furniture, food and construction.

We'll be joined by curator Gemma Savio for an exclusive presentation about the products on show and the people who designed them.

THE RIGG DESIGN PRIZE 2025 - NEXT IN DESIGN: UNDER 35

The Rigg Design Prize is Australia’s most prestigious award for contemporary designFor its landmark tenth edition in 2025, NGV has curated an exhibition which brings together thirty-five emerging designers under the age of 35. You'll see incredible examples of furniture, woodwork, metalwork, textiles, lighting and contemporary jewellery.

Curator Simone LeAmon will take us through some of the most exciting emerging designers of the 2025 show. As a designer, artist and previous recipient of the RIGG Contemporary design award in 2009, her presentation will be one not to miss!

Spaces are limited so book early to ensure you have a spot.
