Join us for this very special teach meet exploring how emerging technologies are changing the fields of product and fashion design.
Design at Swinburne is world-renowned for it's technology-led education research. Its facilities include the Centre for Design Innovation and the Design Factory, where students engage with contemporary design and fabrication techniques while understanding the complex social, cultural and environmental factors needed for sustainable design practice.
We'll meet leading design academics for a tour of facilities and a discussion on preparing the designers of the future.
Here's what you can expect on the day;
THE PROTOLAB

The ProtoLAB is Swinburne's advanced prototyping facility for the School of Design and Architecture with equipment and expertise to support learning, teaching and academic research. They offer the know-how to help students make models, build prototypes, undertake material testing, get design-for-manufacture feedback and select appropriate techniques to realise their designs.
THE ADVANCED FASHION STUDIO

Swinburne is fusing high tech and high fashion in a new Bachelor of Design (Fashion) preparing graduates for a rapidly transforming industry. In their new Advanced Fashion studio, students can explore advanced technologies such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), generative AI, wearables, sensors, smart fabrics and other sought-after innovations.
CENTRE FOR DESIGN INNOVATION

The CDI is a world-renowned Design Research Centre developing powerful solutions to complex real-world problems. Housed within a range of innovative facilities, they lead the research and development of fundamental, strategic and transformative design solutions.
After our tour, we'll head to the Hawthorn Hotel for a discussion on how you can adapt what you've learned for your own classroom teaching.
Spaces are limited so book early to ensure you have a spot.
