Risk assessing in a Design and Technologies workshop involves identifying physical hazards, analysing potential harm from tools or machinery, and setting clear control measures - all within the unique context of your student cohort. This online workshop is designed to support you to develop your own effective practices to ensure you protect yourself and your students and address Department of Education requirements.

The session will be led by Michael Essex from Hume Central Secondary College, who will unpack his school's approach to managing risk. He'll discuss how he uses the DoE risk assessment documents, student licenses for restricted plant, safe work method statements and materials safety data sheets.

This session is suitable for teachers and technicians who contribute to safe workshop practices.
