Government Initiatives

Thanks to the Victorian Secondary Sciences, Technologies & Mathematics Initiative, Government school educators can now undertake a fully funded postgraduate qualification in Design and Technologies teaching with Deakin University at no cost to you or your school.

The Victorian government is making it free to study secondary school teaching  to boost the supply of teachers. Scholarships will be available to students who enroll in secondary school teaching degrees in 2024 & 2025. There is also financial support for participants who secure a job within 15 months of completing their degree.

From 2025, the Victorian Government will introduce Undergraduate Employment-Based Degrees. These programs will provide a supported pathway for existing Education Support staff and members of the school communities such as Design & Technologies technicians to upskill and obtain teaching qualifications.
